What Can A Rhinoplasty Correct?
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a versatile surgical procedure that can correct various cosmetic and functional concerns related to the nose. Here are some common issues that rhinoplasty can address:
Dorsal Hump Reduction
Corrects a prominent bump or hump on the bridge of the nose, creating a smoother profile
Nasal Tip Refinement
Improves the shape and definition of the nasal tip, addressing issues such as droopiness, bulbous tip, or asymmetry
Septoplasty
Addresses a deviated septum, improving breathing and correcting nasal airflow issues
Alar Reduction
Refines and reduces the size of wide or flared nostrils for a more balanced appearance
Trauma and Injury Repair
Repairs and reconstructs the nose following injuries or trauma, restoring both form and function
Augmentation Rhinoplasty
Adds volume or support to specific areas of the nose, such as the bridge or tip, using grafts or implants
Closed Preservation Rhinoplasty
Closed preservation rhinoplasty is a surgical technique used to reshape and refine the nose without external incisions. In this procedure, all incisions are made inside the nostrils, avoiding any visible external scars. The term “preservation” emphasizes the preservation of the natural structures of the nose as much as possible.
Surgical
Non-Surgical
Surgical rhinoplasty is a comprehensive and permanent solution to nasal enhancement. This procedure involves making carefully planned incisions to access the nasal structures, including bone and cartilage, allowing for significant reshaping and correction of various aesthetic and functional concerns. Typically performed under general anesthesia, surgical rhinoplasty is versatile, addressing a wide range of issues such as nasal humps, asymmetry, and breathing difficulties. The recovery period for surgical rhinoplasty is longer, with swelling and bruising that may take several weeks to subside. However, the results are enduring, providing a permanent transformation to the nasal structure.
Non-Surgical
Non-surgical rhinoplasty, often referred to as liquid rhinoplasty, is a less invasive and temporary alternative. This procedure involves the injection of dermal fillers, usually hyaluronic acid-based, to correct minor imperfections or enhance specific nasal contours. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed under local anesthesia or with a topical numbing agent, and there is minimal downtime. The results are temporary, lasting several months to a year, as the injected fillers are gradually absorbed by the body. This option is suitable for individuals seeking less permanent changes, the ability to test out potential alterations, and a quicker recovery compared to surgical rhinoplasty.
Are You A Candidate For A Rhinoplasty?
Are you dissatisfied with the shape or functionality of your nose? If so, you may be an ideal candidate for rhinoplasty. This transformative procedure is suitable for individuals seeking to enhance both the aesthetic and functional aspects of their noses. Good candidates for rhinoplasty should be in overall good health, have realistic expectations, and be at a stage of facial development where the nose is fully formed. Dr. Marvel
I have spent more than 30 years of my career operating on noses. Every day of my working life I am either operating on or examining noses. I must admit that I am particularly passionate about rhinoplasty. After examining patients, I often begin planning their surgeries in my head during my walks, spare time, going off to sleep, or even the first thing in the morning waking up. I like to mentally go through the steps of the procedure and consider all the options, trying to think of ways of obtaining better outcomes for my patients.
